We wish to alleviate hunger in the Sioux Falls area one meal at a time. The bottom line is that we're all Americans. What made our country great is taking time to help each other out. Together, we can be great and do great things.
While working as the Resource Coordinator for The Good Shepherd Center in Sioux Falls, SD I saw the need for another resource for people who struggle with hunger. There are many of Sioux Falls' working poor who are unable to visit facilities such as The Banquet, The Good Shepherd Center and the Union Gospel Mission for a variety of reasons including lack of transportation and working hours that are incompatible with serving hours. There are many chronically homeless who struggle with visiting the traditional soup kitchens as well due to issues with substance abuse and authority issues. The Meal Mobile will serve to help close the gap for those people.
We're working on sourcing a truck, have our non-profit paperwork submitted and have applied for and received a spot grant from the Sioux Falls Area Community Foundation to help get us up and running. With your help, this will all come together very quickly in the next few months. It's going to take time, commitment, volunteers and monetary donations to help make this happen.
